dc.description.abstract The results of analytic and numerical modeling of gas flow in fine profiled vibrating clearances are shown when they are interfaced. The mathematical formulation of the problem is based on the Reynolds equation. The analytic solutions are based on the Pan asymptotic theory. The numerical solution is achieved using the finite-difference method with the linearization of the problem according to the Newton method in order to steady the transitional process. The profiling is shown to influence considerably the value generated in vibration and the flow rate. It is established in particular that the matching of pneumatic drags in interfaced clearances according to the principle proposed here enables selection of the parameters of the clearances so as to insure the maximum interface output. The obtained results are promising for development of controllable gas seals, dozers, gas-lubricated bearing units, etc. © 2010 Allerton Press, Inc. en]
