Abstract:
The article is devoted to the pre-revolutionary period of the development history of the doctrine about the interest in the world and Russian science. The genesis of the concept
of "interest" is illustrated. The way of formation and development of the doctrine of
interest in the writings of French, German, Russian thinkers of the XVIII – early XX centuries is traced. It is indicated that by the end of the considered period there were five basic concepts of law, explaining legal phenomena. These concepts differ in the diversity
of approaches in explaining the legal nature and the ratio of such legal phenomena as law, subjective right, will, interest. Most of the concepts are pluralistic, while Russia adopted the monistic theory based on the causality of social phenomena, including law, economic reasons. The Marxist-Leninist approach to the law understanding and the law mediated phenomena that had received the character of legal ideology, identified unilateral – objective – understanding of the nature of interest in the subsequent period.
