dc.description.abstract To minimize the amplitude of the cutting force in the turning of blanks with sinusoidal linear surfaces, the directional cosines of the chip-departure line along the cutter's front surface are determined. With known directional cosines of the resultant velocity vector, the working kinematic front angle may then be determined.
